Hi
I have just dicovered information about my 3 x great grandparents from the Guildhall library My 2 x g grandfather Alfred Bosher was a pupil at Christ's Hospital School between 1838 and 1843 and the pupil records are housed there containing the petition for him (a poor child) to be educated there with his baptism records and parents' marriage cert)

I have found the parents' marriage (WIlliam Bosher and Mary Ann Nash m 1811 St Andrew by the Wardrobe) and traced baptisms of his other children in St Botolph London parish registers.

Alfred (my 2 x g grandfather) was baptised in Huddersfield in 1828.

The address for William in 1843 when Alfred came out of the school was Rouen, Normandy, France. But Alfred stayed in London and was apprenticed to a gas fitter.

So I am wondering if anyone has any idea how I can look at trade records to see what William was doing and why he was travelling. He was a book keeper or office clerk on certificates and one of the baptism entries calls his a gold smith, so he may have been a book keeper for a gold smith.

Also when Alfred was discharged from school Wlliam had to find him a Master - and I guess this meant arrange an apprenticeship and might there be records of this somewhere?

Hopefully
