Hello, I'm a new member and would be grateful for some help or advice. I've noticed several references to missing census data that is on microfiche, and wonder if this explains why I can't find the following family on the 1861 or 1881 censuses:

1871 Trevethin, Pentwyn Houses
John Jones, age 36, born Lisvane, Glam
Margaret Jones, age 35, Born Abergasyn, Bre
W Edward, age 14, born Victoria, Mon
Ann, age 12, Born Victoria, Mon
David, age 8, born Victoria, Mon
David and Edmund (Twins) age 3, born Abersychan,
Catherine, age 1, born Abersychan

1891 King St, Aberystruth
Margaret Jones, age 56, born Brec
John Jones, age 25 (should be 35?) born Mon
Davy, age 28, born Mon
Rees, and Edmund, age 23, born Mon
Tom C, age 19, born Mon
Mary C, adopted dau, age 10

I've searched 1861 & 1881 on all the names without success, despite the helpful twins. I have a potential marriage cert but as John & Margaret are my ggg grandparents I'm reluctant to give up!

Many thanks, Lewis1277

Hi Lewis1277, I've tried my best, really I have, but I've come up with nothing at all. Sorry ! They are out there somewhere, here's hoping its just a matter of time. Good luck.

I've found them!!!! |woohoo| (1881 Wales)

198 Castle Street, Aberystruth, Monmouthshire
Mr John Jones, age 47, Blocklayer, born Abergosyn
Mrs Jones, age 46, born Glamorganshire
--- Jones, son, age 18, roller tinplate works, born Mon. Victoria
--- Jones, son, age 16, -ditto- . born Mon, Abersychan
--- Jones, son, age 13, born Mon, Abersychan
--- Jones, son, age 13, born Mon, Abersychan
Miss Jones, Dr, age 11, born Mon, Abersychan
Mr Jones, son, age 9, born Mon, Abersychan

None of their first names are there and Margaret has Glamorganshire as her birthplace but I bet that was a mistake by the enumerator - no wonder the family was hard to find!

You can find it at: Ref RG 11/5241 page 46

Very Many thanks to those who searched for my missing Jones family. A huge bunch of virtual flowers to Pipsqueak for finding them How silly of me not to look for anonymous Jones's! - and to transpose their birth counties! I suspect there may be lots of other lost families due to this enumerator.

Thanks again. Lewis1277
