There's now a lot of month left at the end of my money.
What with taxes and prices going up, things are seriously getting out of hand.
I'm beginning to think that this government and Parliament need investigation by the "Rogue Traders" TV program.
Prices are going up everywhere to protect profit margins. I cannot do the same and offset these increases as I am not in control of my income.
Blatant taxes, stealth taxes and squeezing blood out of stones taxes seem to be the order of the day. We are paying out more and more for height, length, weight, capacity and any other measurement these dipstick bureaucrats, sat in an offices, can dream up.
Window tax ??? Its been done before, they just have not got round to that one yet (or have they).
Time I think for a new Oliver Cromwell to march into Parliament and throw all these gravy train, useless MP'S out into the street. Back to where they belong, selling timeshares and used cars.
Cheers.
Dave.

I'm glad to see we are not the only country being treated the same way but I don't think our MP's could sell timeshares or used cars they wouldn't know how. From what I've seen, when Parliament is televised, they can only sit there and pick their noses, that's about all they are fit for.
Cheers

Sorry Dave, it's in force. If you change your windows without planning permission and not for the same style you get a fine (well it is a type of tax, goes into the bottomless pit) to pay their expenses and nannies (see today's news about the MP responsible for looking into expenses, used her's to pay her nanny as a secretary)

It's not just MPs. The mayor of a certain seaside town was yesterday seen depositing large wooden items in the refuse bin (collected weekly) of the neighbouring school. The school is funded by the county council (ie our taxes) and has to pay extra if the bin is overfull, so we are paying for this gentleman's refuse disposal and also his expenses on council business! I would have thought that if you wanted to remain in public office you should be squeaky-clean!

No they wouldn't be able to go back to selling timeshares or used cars, not just because they wouldn't know how to, but also because fewer people can afford to buy such things nowadays. |idea|They could however give themselves a government grant and take up art. Whoa! Only just spotted this little lot!
Please feel free to move on to another thread as I rant :)
Right, for starters, the English Government have manipulated history to accidentally forget what was essentially ethnic cleansing of the Cornish population. Hanging the vicars of churches from their church towers for refusing to preach only in English for example or the actions of Athelstan if we go back a bit further...
A lot of the Cornish population was treated as essentially slave labour in the mining industry - which of course is now seen as being quaint picturesque landscape. The mine owners were not Cornish - nor did the majority actually live in Cornwall. They simply took the profits away.
I won't go into the "county of Cornwall" vs the "Duchy of Cornwall" vs the "Country of Cornwall" - but I will state that I am of the opinion that Cornwall is a Country, in the same way that Wales or Scotland are. Should anyone wish to discuss that, feel free to PM me :)
I am not English - I am Cornish. I am British.
My alleged leige - the Prince Of Wales (and I don't blame Prince Charles for the historical background in this) takes land from people who die intestate in Cornwall - unlike the rest of "England", where the land goes to the "Crown" - i.e HM The Queen.
Strange that the benefits of free land go to the Prince Of Wales when it comes to Kernow, yet the rest goes to the reigning Monarch. That to me indicates the use of double standards when the UK Government refuses to accept Cornwall as a seperate entity. The EU recognises Cornwall as a minority as far as race is concerned, yet the UK Government still states that Cornwall is part of England.
I could go on for hours about this - the Church Of England and their cathedral in Truro, the Battle of Blackheath and lots more, but I won't.

Talking of toilets, my daughter was in Tanzania a year or two ago, working with a charity and helping teach English to youngsters in the mountains there. Red backs are the only spider here in victoria that can be a problem, that I know of anyway, Our snakes are what we have to watch out for plenty of them about
where I live, but most of the time they will get out of your way when they hear you coming. Frogs are slimy and when you kiss them they don't turn into prince's|scold|
I learn't something from your post tonight, I never knew the Cornish people were treated so badly by the English, I knew about the Irish but I guess that history will come when and if my research ends in Cornwall or I keep reading your sermons |nopity|

It was all in the past of course, but yes, Cornwall has been treated quite poorly. I think it was all just jealousy because we have nice beaches ;)
Not having kissed many frogs (well, none actually!), I have no idea what they turn into ;) Can't say as I would be thrilled by a prince in any case - a nice princess would suit me better :D
A long drop, as its name suggests is just an extension over the side of the mountain area and what you do in there just drops down the side of the mountain ;) With resources being limited, I suppose it saves on water etc. The only water they had was from a stream some distance away and carried to the village each day. Although the locals drank it, it isn't terribly clean. They "sterilise" it by placing it in a clear plastic bottle which is left out in the sun for a few hours!
She enjoyed it though and is off to Kenya this year to do some research for her Biology degree.

How would you feel if we had your ancestors heads in our museum's ? We are talking about human beings who should be returned out of respect |scold|
they deserve to be returned to their descendants |hug|and to be Given a decent burial.
I believe its time to do the right thing, I know our generation's are not responsible for what has been done in the past, but the consequence
is that those descendants feel sadness and they want them returned.
They don't feel what we feel when we find our ancestors in an birth or marriage index. they know that their ancestor is in some museum or university being used as a freak show in the name of science and education
and we our generation has the power to make it right by returning not artifacts but human remains.
Just a little food for thought, If Japan or Germany had our soldiers heads in there museums what would the world say then ? |moon|
