Hi MM,

My Great grandmother was Catherine Reardon. She was born in Liverpool of Irish parents, Patrick and Winifred Reardon, nee Connel. Catherine was one of seven or eight kids. Chatherine immigrated to NZ about 1860.

Any help to you:confused: hope so as I would like more on this family.

Hi Irene
My Reardons were originally from Liverpool too, but there were so many John Reardons I haven't been able to narrow it down as yet

I will keep your info and see what else turns up

Thank you for your reply

Hi Irene

My John would have been born around 1854 [ish!]
In the later census returns his age gives this approx date of birth, though his age varies by a couple of years in each census too.

He gives his place of birth as Liverpool, but I have so far been unable to track him down conclusively.

The nearest Johns DOB does not match the John in my tree.

What area of Liverpool was your John from?

Hi,
I am the decendant of two separate Beardsley family's in Derbyshire. Maternal side born Coxbench, Horsley. Paternal side born Shottle. Does this ring any bells, I have quite a bit of information.

Hi susannah

I have very very little on my Derbyshire Beardsleys as I can't quite break down the brick wall on them and can't get to the records office either

My gt.gt.grandmother was Mary Ann Beardsley born about 1821 - according to the census returns she was born in Belper.

In 1840 Mary Ann married William Chamberlin Hind in Nottingham [where the Hinds came from] According to the marriage certificate her father was John Beardsley,a joiner.

Without access to the parish records - and I can't see that happening for a very long time - I am stuck as every other source I have tried ie census returns for John Beardsley/IGI etc have proved inconclusive

Any help in finding her baptism and Johns marriage would be gratefully appreciated :D

My mum lives in Chesterfield, not far from Derbyshire Records Office in Matlock, I will be visiting her in the last week of July and im sure i will be off to the records office. If you give me a parish and date range of those Beardsleys you are looking for i will gladly have a look while im there

Thank you so much, cezza, that is really kind of you :)

Mary Ann only ever gives her place of birth as 'Belper' so I don't know how many parishes this would include. Does anyone know?

Her age suggests a birth in about 1820/1 and father would be John.

I wonder how I can narrow it down to a parish now though |banghead|

Im sure the helpful ladies at the record office will be able to tell me what parishes there are in Belper, i have a date range to look at so not a complete needle in haystack!!

Cezza - have a read here: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DBY/Belper/History.html Just looks like St Peter's.

However, it does also refer to a number of chapels. Both of you may find this of help: http://www.belper-research.com/

I'm related to Crook's that lived in Surrey. I don't have a great knowledge, but if you could give me names you're looking for or leads?

My Crook's lived around 1800 mark in Cheriton Fitzpaine, then one (that I know of) moved into Lambeth, London. My Father a Crook was born in Croyden, Surrey. I can only presume my auntie and my grandfather, and his brother and sister, were born there too.

Anyway, if I can help, I will.

Hi
As far as I know, the 1st Crook living in Surrey/London was my gt.gt.grandfather Robert Crook. I first find him living in Putney in the 1841 census, but he had married in Putney in 1825.
Robert was actually born in Marlborough Wiltshire and I have trace the Wiltshire line back to the mid 1700s.

Robert had sons George [who I am descended from] and Cornelius and they settled around the Wandsworth area. From them descend a large number of London/Surrey Crooks.

Do these names ring any bells?

The only thing that rings bells is Putney.

The first Crook I have was Richard Crook, b.c1795 Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon moved to London ... his son Richard Crook, b.5 Jun 1831 ... had son Herbert Enoch Crook, b.c1865 ... had son Albert Crook, b.c1891, Lambeth (my gt. Grandfather) ... he had 3 children, Phyllis, Albert Roy and Gordon Herbert (my Grandfather) - who married a Collis, born in Putney. They both moved to Somerset.

This is my line as my father has researched it. I'll be honest and say that there is a hiccup I don't like at the beginning. Richard, had 2 sons both called Richard. Richard Henry, b1828 & Richard, b.5 Jun 1831. As my dad says, the first one could have died as a child. But it could also be a mistake and all my Crook's are still from around London?

The first Richard probably died. I have come across this several times when a child dies and they give the next child the same name.

None of those names ring any bells, but will keep them in mind :)
