Hi Colin
In 1901 the family lived in Forest Gate All Saints. Essex. 133 Red Post Lane
His occupation was Mantle Manufacturer and Johanna was Keeper of the Mantle Shop. I think that sounds delightful. Handwritten on top was written Tailor.
No sign of Eric.
RG13 Piece 1595 Folio 179 Page 45
Lewis Rosen 37 born Poland
Johanna wife 39 born Germany
Maude dau 7 born Southend Essex
Victor son 6 " "
Elsa dau 4 born Wanstead Essex
Ethel dau 1 Born Forest Gate Essex.
Looks as if they moved around quite a lot but the last address may give you a clue for events after 1901.

Hi
Do you have Lewis in the 1891 census? If not I think I have found him.

Unfortunately there is a death for an Eric Rosen
December 1898 West Ham
Eric Rosen age 0
4a 148
Not sure if this is your Eric but the date looks as if it could be right.
In 1901 there was a daughter born abt 1896/7 and one born abt 1900 so it would fit. West Ham covers Wanstead which is where they lived in 1897.
The only Lewis Rosen death I could find was in 1917 a new born baby. Maybe that was Victor's son. It was in Whitechapel.

You are very welcome, Colin.
I have found a birth on BMD for Eric Ernest Sept Qrtr 1903 in West Ham, Essex.
Possibly the infant death I found was their Eric No 1 and the next boy was renamed Eric as they did!
Just a thought.
Let us know how you get on.

I have asked my uncle and didn't ever remember his mother saying anything about having another brother that died young.

Hi,
The marriage certificate should give the name of the synagogue they married at and you may be able to contact them and see if any records survive that may give further clues. Both Lewis and Johanna may have other family members in England that you don't know about.
