I am posting this to let other people know of a resource that they may not be aware of.

My g.grandfather died in 1924 at St. Bart's Hospital (as per death cert), I contacted the Hospitals Archives section and they were able to tell me more details than the death cert did, including the name of the funeral directors.

I am not sure if other Hospitals can or will do this but it is always worth trying,

You can find the location of hospital archives here:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/
Information includes:
The administrative details of the hospitals, and their status or type
The location and covering dates of administrative and clinical records
The existence of lists, catalogues or other finding aids
Links to some online hospital catalogues on Access to Archives (A2A)
