I have recently spent some time looking at Meager in Breage. All the Johns are accounted for except one, who could be your John ..??
The one I don't have a great deal on is John Meager bp 1 Nov 1818 the son of John and Elizabeth Meager (nee Lukey).
A John Meager was buried in Breage on 1 Sep 1855. This is most likley the same John - his age at death is given as 37. I have no marriage for him but haven't looked very hard at all.
