I am trying to find the name of a member of the 57th regiment (2nd Division)of the Royal Engineers who fought at Mons. He was a Farrier (known as Shoey - presumably because he shoed horses). Can anyone point me in the direction of a list of names or give me any other help on this please?

Thanks very much

This is the website for the RE museum

http://www.remuseum.org.uk/

They are really helpful - at least they were when I asked them for help - and all the war diaries are there so they should be able to point you in the right direction

I think you are probably referring to 57 Field Company RE, who served with the 3rd Division. The RE did not have regiments in WW1.
