Hi,
I'm a REAL newby - most of the time I can't even follow the instructions! I've been trying to trace my ancestors for a few months, but so far haven't been able to join the dots. I saw that Sue McKay has a copy of the Esme Bull Aided Immigration from Britain to the Cape book. I found info somewhere that McIntosh is mentioned on page 406, sort 1547, and Reynolds on page 494, sort 1949. My maiden name was McIntosh, my father was John Laurie, HIS father was William, but there I get stuck. My father was born in Witpoortjie, Transvaal, on 3/01/1907, and baptized in the Boksburg Presbyterian Church in March. His parents were William McIntosh and Mary Witherspoon Laurie.
A possibility is a William McIntosh, born Grahamstown, Cape, 19/05/1883, and baptized in the Presbyterian Trinity Church on 18/06/83. His parents were Robert and Isabella McIntosh. Mary Laurie was a child passenger on the ship Pembroke Castle to the Cape in 1889. I'm living in Cyprus at the moment, so I'm doing this long-distance, altho I visit S. Africa.
