Hi everyone,

I'm Wayne COOK from near Paterson in NSW Australia. I've been researching my family tree on my fathers side as a hobby for a couple of years now and I'm finding it very interesting and quite frustrating at the same time lol.

My direct line is Benjamin COOK(with an E before he arrived) a convict from Dublin. I've been told by another family historian that all the records prior to his arrival were destroyed in a fire so I've never followed that side up.

The lines I'm tending to deal with are my Grandparents lines ie: My Grandfather's mum's line of BRUYN (Elizabeth BRUYN the daughter of Daniel BRUYN (born abt. 1813 Roscommon Ireland) and Sarah NICHOLLS is my Great Grandmother) and my grandmother's father's line of PERKINS (She is Elsie May PERKINS born Margaret Elsie May PERKINS in Tasmania 1890 with Parents of George Kendrick PERKINS and Mary Jane Charlotte BARRETT). Thanks to information on Thomas PERKINS (George Kendrick PERKINS father) convict papers held by the Tasmanian Archives and the information on the IGI, I have traced Thomas PERKINS's family (father Richard PERKINS and mother Harriet KENDRICK) back in Birmingham England. Richard PERKINS was born 2 July 1799 Saint Phillips, Birmingham, Warwick, England and his parents are listed as Richard PERKINS and Ann.

I think I have located this Richard PERKINS and his wife Ann but nothing has been confirmed yet.

I'm now in new territory of pre government registrations and being in Australia it makes my research limited.

I have no idea of how to go about finding the Irish aspects of my family tree or the Birth of Daniel Justin BRUYN my Great Grandmother's brother (Son of Daniel BRUYN & Sarah NICHOLLS) who was born in France (so is probably a British birth abroad).

Kind Regards,

Wayne Cook

Hello Wayne and welcome to Brit-Gen |wave|

Have a good rootle round the boards and post your stumbling blocks on the appropriate ones. I, too have some Irish ancestors, and have not found them the easiest to research. However, you may find some help from the Parish Chest here: http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php?cmd=listlinkeditems&cat=D6663&breadcrumb=Bookshop:Ireland+Genealogy

Good luck in your search,

Thanks Bo peep,

One I can't locate and need help with is the birth records for Daniel Justin BRUYN whose parents are Daniel BRUYN and Sarah NICHOLLS. He was born in France abt. 1848 but all his other siblings were born in Stafford (he was the 2nd youngest).

I gather he is a british birth born abroad (unless he is actually a French Citizen that is). I was told they snuck out of France during the revolution and was assisted by the Duke of Malvina but this is only hearsay atm as I have not researched it.

Daniel BRUYN senior was a Blacksmith.

Kind Regards,

Wayne Cook
