Hello,
I`m Sharon and I have been researching my family tree for just over two years now and I think I have done quite well but some parts of the family elude me.
I live in Kent and my ancestors came from Mayfield, Frant and Wadhurst in Sussex. East Farleigh, Hunton, Marden, Headcorn and Smarden in Kent.
I am also researching my husbands tree which is very interesting as he is from Liverpool and his ancestry is very different to my own with watchmakers, sea captains and Vicars from the Isle of Man, while my ancestors were mostly ag labs. Nothing wrong with that, all hardworking, honest people who on the whole had a struggle to survive.
However I`m stuck with two Williams. My great grandmother Matilda Williams born about 1863 in Aldershot Hampshire and on my husbands side Lavinia Williams born 1843 in Gloucestershire. The family story is that she may have been a Romany. Her husband was a pedler so it might be true. Perhaps my Matilda was Romany too which would explain the lack of records.
I hope that this website might have a few answers for me.
Thanks
Sharon :)
