Hi everyone

|wave|

A few words of introduction. As you can see from my profile I live in Worcestershire. I've been at this genealogy lark for a couple of years now, with the usual mixture of success down some branches of the family tree and brick walls down others.

Mum's side has been relatively easy (and cheap) to trace as they are from Worcestershire and the Worcestershire Library and History Centre is only 5 miles from where I live. Dad's side has taken me to Scotland and Ireland and has involved considerably more expenditure, including one trip to GROS in Edinburgh.

Both sides of the tree are equally fascinating for different reasons and as is often the case, the more you find out, the more questions you have.

Family names I am researching are:

Bell (Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Wexford), Beddy (Wexford), O'Neill (Lanarkshire), Park (Lanarkshire and Londonderry), Chance, Harris, Lacey, Jakeman, Taylor, Giles, Troughton, Hinton, and Price (all Worcs).

The main problem I have encountered is trying to track my family in Ireland, due either to lack of records or the records not being available online yet. I'm trying to do something about the latter by transcribing some of the Irish BMDs for LDS. I'm having to be very patient in waiting for the 1911 Irish census for Wexford to come online (it's apparently sixth in the queue)!

Finally if anyone has any questions relating to the 1914-18 medal cards, please post them in the appropriate forum and I'll try to help. I used to work with the originals many years ago, before they went to the National Archives.

Hello Andrewb and welcome to Brit-Gen |wave|

Have a good old rootle round and post any queries on the appropriate boards. I understand your frustrations with Irish ancestors - I've got them too! However, some help may be gained from publications by Flyleaf Press, who have their books with Parish Chest here: http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php?cmd=listlinkeditems&cat=D6666&supplier=&breadcrumb=New+Suppliers%2C+New+Products+%26+Speci al+Offers%3ANew+Suppliers:Flyleaf+Press

Thanks, too, for the offer of help - I'm sure that people will take you up on it!
