Hi thanks for your message. It is Betty Barraclough born 1818. She is from the Wike area of Bradford West yorkshire. She married Luke Gledhill. Their daughter Sally married Morris Sutcliffe. They even called one of their sons Barraclough as his forename. It would be easier for researching if everyone had done that! They then lived in the Halifax area.

Hi The Pugh in my tree is Gwenllian Pugh from Wales who married David Griffin. I dont have too many more details I am afraid as I have just got to this part of my tree and have not ordered any certificates yet. I forgot to say they then lived in Shrewsbury.

Don't sure Betty fits in my lot. Will have to do some searching of my own. My Barracloughs are a hard bunch to trace. Will get back to you if I find anything.

I dont know if it is any help, but the family seemed to have a lot of coal miners. Betty then went on to marry a coal miner, who was also from a family of miners.

Sorry to disagree, Irene, but round where Cassie's looking every third person and his dog is called Barraclough (or so it seems). And the ones that aren't are nearly all called Kellett (including some of my ancestors), which makes for much confusion  They were nearly all miners too.
Cassie - it probably won't help you much, but I've come across a Sarah Barraclough b abt 1820 in North Bierley who married Matthew BARTLE in 1838 in the Bradford Reg Dist. Matthew was brother of one of my ancestors. I haven't anything else on Sarah's origins, but they're both commemorated on a memorial at Low Moor Wesley Place Chapel.

Hi
Thanks for the replies. I think I will do some more deeper research regarding the Barraclough's, I have someone with Barraclough as a christian name also in my tree! Barraclough Sutcliffe! Thanks for the info on Sarah Barraclough. I will look into that one.
