Greenwood gro number

Please can someone help me. I have sent off for 2 birth certificates for my GGgrandmother Sarah Ellen Greenwood both have turned out to be the wrong ones. I am left with one other but have a query on the number.
On both FreeBDM and Ancestry the typed refence is 8c 503 but the original looks more like 8c 563. If I choose the wrong number will the gro find the right one or what?

I don't think they will find the right one for you but if the information you submitted doesn't match then they don't charge you the full amount and send you a part refund.

If you just enter on the form that the number is unclear, providing the other data is unambiguous (nobody else of the same name in the same registration district in the same quarter etc), you will get the certificate OK at the lower price.

Also don't forget the free service GRO have had to institute now the paper volumes have gone. You phone and say that you can't read the fiche.
