Hi everyone,

My name is Jen ( well actually Jennifer, but only get called that when in big trouble!! )
I live in Victoria, Australia. I have been researching my family history from Cornwall and Germany, for over 10 years. My mother actually started the family history bug over 30 years ago, and I have now taken over. She says she is to old now ( 81 next week ) I would love to be able to solve a couple of brick walls for her, at least from Cornwall.
The surnames I am researching from Cornwall are, Nancarrow, Rule, Edwards and Corner. There are a few others but this will do to start with.
In Cornwall, Corner married Rule, then here in Australia Rule married Edwards, then Edwards married Nancarrow.

Just looking forward to using this site.

Regards to all Jen

I have Nancarrows in Cornwall - from St Agnes. Where are your lot from?
Nancarrow is actually one of my biggest brickwalls, so I have lots of information about other branches - in the hope of tying them into mine ....!

My Nancarrow's were from Redruth, my gggrandfather William Nancarrow born 1805. He married Isabella Francis in 1834 at Truro. My ggrandfather William Henry Nancarrow was born in 1850 at Camborne, Cornwall. He had 5 sisters, Phillippa, who came to Australia before William, Elizabeth, who I have found on 1841, 1851 census then I have nothing further on her. She could have married and maybe went to America, but this is only what may have happened to her. I have never found her death in UK. Then there was Isabella who married Thomas Jolly, she died in America. Next was Johanna, she married John Hockin/Hocking, she was a widow by the 1871 census, she had 2 children William J Hocking and Elizabeth M Hocking, both born before the 1871 census.
The next child was Mary Anne/Marian, depends which census I looked at she was not with the family by the 1871 census, no ideas for her also, she may have married, but I have never found anything about her, after 1861. Last was William Henry, he came to Australia circa 1872 we have never been able to find his arrival. We know he was in America at about the age of 17/18 but was back home in Camborne, Cornwall, by the 1871 census.
Don't know if this will help you at all, I am unsure of William Nancarrow's parents but they could have been John Nancarrow and Anne Jeffrey, but I have no proof of this.

Thanks for that Jen - mine are earlier than that, and haven't strayed as far as Redruth in the searches I have done to date. My brickwall continues ....!

Alan, My Corner's were from Burlescombe, Devon before 1762, John Corner Married Mary Marks in Crowan, Cornwall in 1872. Then 2 families in Cornwall, mostly around the Sithney area, then may ggggranadmother Mary Anne Corner married Henry Rule. When he died in 1844 in Camborne Cornwall, Mary and all but her first child came to live in Australia. Mary's brother James was already living here in South Australia with his wife Mary nee Eva and their family.
I do not know what happened to the rest of their siblings.

Kind regards

Jen Green
