http://old-merseytimes.co.uk/index.html
contains all sorts of information, and mentions places world-wide.
The information is mainly transcribed from newpapers, and is obviously very heavily into Liverpool and Lancashire items, but is well worth a dip into for five minutes relaxtion after |banghead| all day, because you might just turn up a gem like the Empson from Manchester who married in Peru. :)
I'm going to peruse the inbound passenger lists to see if I can spot my cousin's lot returning from the States with their young son.
And whilst the majority of the Liverpool and Mersey shipping links deal with tragedy, you can have a good giggle at the trials and tribulations of 'Fat lady at sea, 1852'.

And 'step-girls 1913' and 'match seller 1913' found in the trades and occupations make you both laugh and cry.
Discover your own favourite items - and perhaps even an ancestor. :)

The Fat Lady was a hoot|biggrin||biggrin|

I printed out the Naming Patterns - I knew the basic sequence but this will make it a bit easier in sorting out my lot:)

I wish there were sites like this for Kent and Devon.

What a wonderful site, Pam. If only all old newspapers were online like this http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee187/Jan_07/Sigh-1.gif

Love the Fat Lady ! I wonder if she sailed back from California or if she thought it was too traumatic ?
