Is it possible for a thread, or part of one, to disappear? I just read a thread and thought "these names look familiar" and I'm sure I posted in an earlier thread regarding those names, and can remember the scenario in detail, but I can’t find it, even though I’ve searched the forums for the name and checked all my subscribed threads. Do the moderators sometimes remove whole threads - can't see why this one should have been - or am I going round the bend after too many late nights hunting relatives?

I have responded to a thread, and later found that the exact same question has been asked on a non-BG forum on the same day by the same person.
So perhaps you actually read the thread somewhere else whilst surfing.

Yes, I've also seen postings duplicated on other forums, but I know that I wouldn't have posted on them because I only belong to this one.
Fortunately one of the moderators has confirmed that I did not imagine the posting (and therefore am not completely crazy) - the explanation was that the originator of the thread had deleted it! :)

Well, that would ease your mind a lot - I bet you are glad you asked ! :D

If the originator of the thread chooses to delete their message then the whole thread goes too. If they had asked a moderator to do something because it was a duplicate then the two threads could have been merged and this would have saved the answers, something to bear in mind for a later date perhaps.
