I am researching Chapman Dolby (b1678 - d1742), rector of St Andrews church in the beautiful little village of Burton Overy in Leichestershire. I found some very tantalizing references to him in a book called "Leicestershire Pedigrees and Royal Descents" which Google have indexed but are restricting access to.

Does anyone have access to this book?

Hi,
Leicester university library have a copy but it's listed as a rare book and is also on restricted access. I only use the library as a guest so may not be able to view it, but there's no harm in asking. I shall be going sometime in the next couple of weeks if all goes to plan. What did you want to know?

Hi Angela,

If you could help, and the library is willing to show you the book, it would be wonderfull. There are only 6 libraries in the world which have this book and they are all a long way from Australia :-)

I'd love to get a copy of pages 104-107 which have the ancestry of John Burdet who was the reverend of St Andrews rectory in Burton Overy, Leicestershire in the 16th century and married into nobility.

Google shows an exciting but frustratingly small snippet here:

We have a family legend that we were descended from John of Gaunt and I think that this book can confirm this connection. I'm very happy to pay for your time & expenses.

Cheers

Not much help but one copy of "Leicestershire Pedigrees and Royal Descents" was at auction (Gildings) last year and sold for £30.00

Hi Simon,
I'll ask next time I'm there. No need to pay me anything, I'm going to the library anyway.
