looking for great great grandfather, Jacob Miller born in Poole's England, 1817

Hi Everyone! I am a newbie and a newfie ( Newfoundlander in Canada). My father and I are reseaching our family history and have realized that our great great grandfather, Jacob Miller, came from Poole's, England. We have found his year of birth on records here in Newfoundland to show 1817 from Pooles. He travelled to Newfoundland, not sure when, and married in 1852 to a Sarah Ford. Can anyone help us get any further or give us some direction on what other sites are available? This is totally fasinating!!

Just found out from my father, that Jacob's wife, Sarah, her father John Ford was also from Pooles. I don't no if Sarah traveled with Jacob to Newfoundland and got married here.
