93 years ago today my Grandfather Thomas Robert Joseph Gould landed at V Beach with the Royal Munster Fusiliers.

My Aunt remembers her Father telling her he was found on the boat with the dead. From his Service Record he had a severe chest wound and wounds to both feet. Which tells me she was probably right. A friend told me it was most likely machine gun fire. He was a bandsman with the RMF and on that day he was a stretch bearer no mean feat I think as there is no way to defend yourself and just have to keep going in to help others.

Thomas lived until 1955.

Anyone else have relatives that were at Gallipoli.

Regards
Jill

My Dad was at Gallipoli with Royal Marines Light Infantry. All I can remember him telling us about it was that the heat caused the bully-beef to run like treacle (if you could see it under the flies!).|nopity|
