Hi I am Mary born in England but with 3 Irish grandparents and one Scottish g. Hard to find relatives when I never knew any.
My dad (only child) was born at Aldershot army base in England in 1911.
His mother Mary Harrington (Cork)and father James Bradley (Mayo) both came from Ireland but I don't know whether they married in England or Ireland. I believe my grandmother died in London in 1934 and according to an old relative (now deceased) who had noted it down, she is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery. Does that give me enough info to make a search for her death cert?
Grandfather was in the Boer War and died in WW1 in 1915 as a soldier in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. There were some relatives on the Bradley side in Blackburn Lancs so maybe he lived there for a while. Does anyone know of a source to check on marriages of army personnel (ordinary soldiers)? I have found James Bradley's birth certificate thanks to this site and also g. grandfather Patrick's marriage and birth certs. That is as far as I can go and I can't find James's mother (Alice McHugh) or Patrick's mother
(Mary Caufield) listed. Did they record female births or is more likely that it was lost, burnt or in a county where records are not available???
Cheers everyone. Who knows? Imight have a relative out there somewhere!

Hi Mary

I assume you have seen your GF entry on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website here (http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=728286)?

Happy to help a Sandgroper :-)
