My name is Keith Gell looking for Mother’s Side - IDDON
My mother, Elizabeth Hannah Charlotte Iddon born 6th August 1927 – died 1st January 2004 aged 74 was married to Arthur Gell – born 25th November 1923 – died 1993. On the Marriage Certificate the address that my mother lived at at the time was 9 May Crescent, Trimdon Station, Wingate, County Durham. They were married on 9th October 1948, County Durham (Western). After they were married they lived in Middleton St George, Nr Darlington, County Durham.
My mother worked at Winterton Hospital at Sedgefield when she was about 15 yr old as I think an assistant cook. After that not sure when she moved to Rugby down South to a Home or the likes. She didn’t stay down South long but came back up North to Trimdon and got a job in Middleton St George Nursing Home where she lived in and where she met my Father.
My Mother’s sisters were Lisa lived in Wingate, County Durham, Gladys, London, Sarah, Trimdon, Edith, London and died in London and brother John, lived Trimdon, County Durham.
My Grandfather John Iddon was born 1888 could have been in first quarter of year in as we think he is in 1901 Census as born Hutton Henry - Easington, County Durham. Worked as a coalminer in Deaf Hilll Colliery. He died in Sedgefield General Hospital, County Durham, England.
As a daft add on to Iddon:-
A Robson (family name from County Durham) from Thornley, County Durham and she was supposed to have one arm, worked in a fish shop in Thornley – my grandfather’s brother’s daughter, just another piece of info.
My Nana, Edith Maud Bowes lived at 26 Sycamore Crescent, Trimdon Colliery, County Durham circa 1955 not sure of address before that could be 9 May Crescent as above. She was born in 1893, South Church, Bishop Auckland, Durham, England. Her father was William Bowes and her mother was Elizabeth Hannah Charlotte Knott. William Bowes was born in 1860 at Bullcragg, Easington Lane, Durham, England and he died 27th May 1912. Elizabeth Hannah Charlotte Knott was born on 9th November 1957 in Guildford, Surrey, England and she died on 2nd December 1924. They were married on 6th November 1881 in Aldershot, Hampshire, England might have moved to Farnham, Surrey.
Does anyone have any info on this at all?
