Hello,
I don't found the registation of marriage of my italian ancestor Francesco Puccini with Maria (italian too or english). It was in England, may be from 1790 to 1802. They had two children in Birmingham (Elisabetta and Joseph Domenico) christened in St Peter RC in 1802 and 1804.
Do someone know where I can found some records about that marriage? (CD, web, books or other.....)
Regards, r.puccini

Like the Italian records, unless the marriage appears in the IGI you will need to know at least the town where the marriage took place since you have to check the parish registers to find the details.
The Roman Catholic registers for St Peter's, Birmingham (where you know that the children were baptised) are held in the Birmingham Diocesan Archive
http://www.birminghamdiocese.org.uk/ourstandard.asp?pageid=111 but you will need to visit there yourself or employ a researcher, I have not been able to find details of a transcription.
The marriage may have been in a Roman Catholic church but the law at that time was that all marriages (with the exception of Jews and Quakers) had to be in a Church of England (the "Established Church") church so those are the records that need to be checked to be sure of finding a record of the marriage. There are lots of churches in Birmingham, as you can see if you visit this website:
http://www.bmsgh.org/parish/warw/tyaib/cofeindex.htm although not all of them were open at the time of the marriage. Unfortunately, as St Peters was the only Roman Catholic chapel in Birmingham at the time Francesco might not have been living close to the church; all of the Birmingham churches that were open at the time will need to be checked, but I don't know Birmingham well enough to suggest the best place to start. I think that you can leave out St Philip's and St Martin's as the marriages for those churches are in the IGI and Francesco's does not seem to be there.
I hope that helps

Hello, Colin Moretti
Thanks for your informations. They are very useful for my research. I would like to return, but I am not able in English history. If you want I'll be happy to give you some notices about LUCCA history.

Further thought:
Since Birmingham is the most likely place for the marriage it will be worth posting a message on the Birmingham forum; you may get a response there from someone who wouldn't look at the Catholic forum.
Thanks for the offer; mine came from Italy over 200 years ago, like your Francesco, but they stayed. It makes it very difficult to find their place of origin but I think that it was Venice.
After 200 years I'm afraid that I speak no Italian.
