hi im new to this
trying to find info on a leonard wright .born 1926
he was in r a f . 1948/9 when he was living lewisham . i have his service number
cant find any more info
please if any can help

Thank you but i tryed writing to the raf but as i can not find a death certificate i can not get the info . i have his birth & marriage cetificate . on the mariage cetificate is his sevice number .

You might try looking for a will for this chap, even if he died abroad, probate would probably have been granted in this country.
If you cannot locate his death in the GRO indexes, have you also tried the overseas deaths indices?

Do you also know what he did within the RAF? Pilot, radio operator, mechanic, etc, for example.
There are special interest groups appearing for specific trades and specialities. Sometimes the number is a clue - for example, everyone who belonged to my Father's Association (Cranwell Electrical and Wireless Boy Entrants) had a 6-digit number beginning with 55 (thus my Dad's number was 553355).
You say that you can't find a death certificate - have you considered that he might still be alive?

sorry to say i do not know what he did in the RAF . i do not know where he signed up . i have his number ( 4039213). I have since found his death certificate .
which is a good thing.
