View Full Version : Is there a Joseph Campbell in the house ?
I'm looking for information regarding an article I found during the Library Week, free search.( The link that 'Wirral' posted, many thanks for that:D )
I've been searching for my G +++ Grandfather Joseph Campbell, one article in the newspaper. "The Newcastle Courant etc (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England). Friday, April 13, 1883; issue 10867. " Has a Joseph Campbell maybe located at a dwelling in 'Spencer Street' possibly North Shields ?.
Josheph's son Robert Campbell is in Pegswood, Bothal, Northumberland, in the 1881 census, & married to Jane Ann.
Robert, Jane & children came to Australia a short time after that, I have no record of Joseph Campbell or his wife, I'm not even sure how to get Robert Campbell's birth cert, I imagine it would give more details about his parents.
Any ideas on this would be a great help
Thanks

In 1891 the family are in Tynemouth, 54 Bedford Street, Father is a publican and sons Andrew and David are musicians.
I think the parents on this family are still too young to be parents of your Robert.

Hi Bumblebee
Thank you so much for that information |jumphappy
You've put the door in the brick wall for me.
The time/date/location all seem to match up. wow & yay :D
My search for Joseph was where I began my research in January this year.
Thank you x many ;)
I just had to shift into high gear when I read this information, so I went to the Brit-Library Newspaper search and found this;
Birth, Deaths, Marriages and Obituaries
The Belfast News-Letter (Belfast, Ireland),
Tuesday, January 7, 1845; Issue 11115,
the article under marriage reads; (with some text is difficult to read)
"On the the 30th ult at Ballymena, by the Rev H. J. Dobbin.
Mr Joseph Campbell. Slatt, to Miss Mary Jane M'Chesney,
of same place."
I would guess the Jan 7 publication 1845; would be reporting the marriage for the 30th dec 1844,
so in 1861 the Joseph from your research was 49 yrs, born circa 1812.
and the newspaper article has the marriage of Joseph Campbell at Ballymena,
in 1844, if they are the same Joseph, he would have married at age 32yrs.
Hmmmm. out on a limb here me thinks :)
