Can anyone work this work.
I have Vista Pc, 3 logins to keep everything separate.
Each has 2 email accounts. I use Window's Mail for one amd Thunderbird for the other account.
On one of the login's the Thunderbird program has decided to stop working, it says that it is already running in another window and to close that or restart the PC. Well I restarted it, checked the progresses that are running and it still refuse to open. Thunderbird works OK on the other 2 accounts.
Any ideas?

Stick the Thunderbird under a bucket, place a couple of windows on top.
Find an old lady and give her the 2 emails to hold..... :D

You are totally incorrigible, Mutley! To make me laugh out loud at 07:25 in the morning is a pretty good achievement!

What are you doing on here at 7.30 in the morning??!! I thought I was bad enough, logging on straight after breakfast, and now my husband is moaning that I never do anything in the house since I found this site. He may have a point.:D

Have you sorted this Neil?
I can't really help on excatly how to fix it (I don't use TBird or Windows myself), but I occasionally get a similar issue with Firefox on my Linux systems. In my case, it is usually because FF thinks it is still running, so I have a little script I wrote to kill all processes which may be connected to FF. But a reboot would also sort that, so I guess your issue is perhaps some lock file causing this problem. On *nix machines at least, FF (and presumably TBird) write a temporary lock file to prevent someone else using the same login whilst the account is in use. On rare occasions, this lock file fails to be removed when the program is closed - and that persists even when rebooting.
If it is anything like Firefox, there should be a lock file in the Mozilla directory relating to the user account (probably in the Programs folder in Windows). If you close TBird and then rename the lockfile (if you can) then restart TBird, I expect it will sort the issue.

I can check all this out on my wifes old WinXP system later today if you are still stuck, just to make sure it works and locate the various directories for you.

Mark
Just compared 2 folders of the thunderbird under profiles and there is one called parent.lock description is a lock file which isn't in the folder that is working properly (Ihave opened Thunderbird and the file has appeared).
Just going to change logins and test it.

Mark - I owe you a drink, it worked. Thank you
