It is available thanks to the millions who pay their subs to the A team.

But even for me, Montreal is a long way to travel to.. and I more interested in doing my genealogy than fighting the world.
I guess I don't really care if a guy with 2 horns and 3 sixes on his head gives me the info, as long as it is accurate, and one can view actual Drouin records. The transcription / indexing may be slightly better, but I can't vouch for that.

Founded in 1899 by a lawyer named Joseph Drouin. The Drouin Genealogical Institute, uses Quebec's vital records to research and sell family genealogies.

Previously only accessible by a visit or using a researcher this collection should open up a lot of doors for those searching in parts of Canada.

I've just discovered there's free access to A******y plus at our library so I'll be sure to check out the Drouin collection on the weekend!

Hi Mahala. Many libaries offer the service you describe.

As with all these databases, the search is only as good as the transcription.

I have already found known ancestors lurking under some very weird variations of their names.
