Hi,
Just as a matter of interest and importance to searchers.
Did you know :
Prior to 1751 the church began it's year on March 25th and ended March 24th the next year.
In 1751 the 25th March became the first day of the year and 31st December the last giving only 9 months to that year.
In 1752 the year began 1st January and ended 31st December but September 14th followed September 2nd loosing 11 days.
1753 continued as we know it today.
Hope that makes everything easier to research.

Thanks Chris for highlighting this important information which may be enhanced by searching the history and implementation of the Gregorian Calendar.
It is worth bearing in mind that the date and style of changes differed from country to country.
Google "Gregorian Calendar" to bring forth a pletherer of information.

I would recommend people visit John Kent's site, then return to B-G forum ;)
http://homepages.tesco.net/%7Ejk.calisto/calisto/index.htm
and download his free calendar program Calisto
His site also gives useful information about the history of calendars.
Cheers

Welcome back Guy, your contributions are always most welcome - yes, I know you have not really been away and have been watching. I'm sure I speak for all on this forum.
I have taken note of your suggestion and have downloaded the programme.
It is good.
Thanks for the tip.
Regards Jack.
