Hello

Can anyone locate the birth record for Samuel COLEMAN, born in Dublin on 7 May 1919? He is my son in law's father but his parents divorced when he was young and had very little contact with him. He died in June 1986 in Manchester.

We would like to find out who his parents were and from where they came.

He may have a sister named Mary but we don't know where she was born.

Thanks
Jo

Hello Jo,

If you could track down a copy of Samuel's marriage certificate, it would name his father, and his father's occupation. This might then help to narrow down any further information that you find out.

Was the marriage in England or Ireland?

Also, there is a great book called "Tracing your Dublin Ancestors" available from Flyleaf, details of which can be found here: http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php?cmd=listlinkeditems&cat=D6664&supplier=&breadcrumb=Bookshop%3AIreland+Genealogy:Flyleaf+Pr ess I haven't finished reading my copy yet, but it gives some fantastic information about where to track these elusive ancestors down.

Hi Jan

He was married in England in 1957 to a Joyce Collingwood. I don't know where but guess some where near London.

Thanks for the reminder but Joyce died in 1986 also. I guess since I knew that I supposed every one else did too.

Just checked out the Flyleaf site, looks very interesting.
