Hi
Anybody got any links to CRUMP in West Bromwich between 1850 up to 1930?
I've got quite a bit of information but am obviously trying to track any links - particularly ones that may have information past 1900.
I'm new to all this forum stuff and only found this site by accident! I'm not even sure this is the best way to use the site. Grateful for any help.

Not quite West Bromwich, but I have a 3 x great grandmother Harriet Crump who on the 1851 census (of Charlotte Street, Aston) was listed as born in Stourbridge about 1825. Unfortunatley, that's where my Crump information ends. Don't know if that's of any use to you whatever, but thought I'd give it a go.

Geoff

I've just come across an old photo in a West Bromwich book of:

"Misses Caroline and Farewell Crump outside their shop in Walsall Street (West Bromwich) c.1910". I see Caroline & Farewell listed on your website and wondered if you had this photo, and if not, would you like a copy?:)

Hi, My main interest is the CHERRINGTON families in the Black Country, I have a Marriage between Joseph CHERRINGTON & Mary CRUMP 9 Jun 1851. The family were in Oldbury in 1871 and in Wednesfield in 1881. I remember a Jessie CRUMP in Oldbury at school in 1937. I'll look out for any other connections if this is of any interest.

Desmond.

Hi Desmond

I do have a Mary Crump but she was not born until 1868. At the moment I am trying to trace all the direct families siblings both forward and back. If you check my web site you will see the Crumps that I have at the moment.

You asked about a daughter of henry Crump (father of Joseph) named 'ginny'
According to my information: Ginny' was a sister to Rebecca, Joseph and henry. Henry married Sarah Smith (sister to Mary Ann Smith wife of his brother Joseph) they had a son by the name of Morris and daughter Ivy...there is a Caroline Crump somewhere among all this...

Hi Terry
Thanks for the info - I don't understand why the email didn't work and I hope you can try again. If not then we willhave to try some other way. As I said I have lots of information about the Crumps. They came from Bromsgrove, 3 brothers Oswald, Abel and Henry. Abel was a shoe maker and had a shop in Walsall street and lots of children. Oswald lived nearby and one of his sons became Major of West Brom. I'll send you the details I have on Henry's children.

Hi there, I have Crumps in West Bromwich & Smethwick. Originally from Wellington Shropshire, the family (Head, Edward Crump) moved in the late 1800's. Children: Francis (known as Frank), Lucy, William, Alfred (known as Bernard) & David (known as Harold).

David's children are William, Ray, Roy, Reginald, Sheila, Veronica Crump. If this rings a bell with anyone please get in touch!

Hi there
All of the Crumps that I know of came from three brothers that moved to the area from Bromsgrove, again in the early 1800's - as yet I have not traced any to Shropshire.

Hi

I'm not very familiar with the geography of England, so places like "West Bromwich & Smethwick" don't mean very much.

Is there somewhere I can go and find out where these places are and work out whether they would relevant for my Crumps?

I only have information so far on 3x great grandfather so far a Thomas Crump who according to his Australia death certificate was born in Kent circia 1815, a brickmaker, parents were listed as unknown on his certificate.

I think he married twice however I only know about the second marriage to a Selina Wheeler on the 30 Dec 1850 Wesleyan Church, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Hi Sandra

West Bromwich & Smethwick are towns in, what was called, the Black Country. This is an area in the centre of England where much of the industry started in the industrial revolution - the name black coming from the smoke in the atmosphere. Kent s in the south east and it is unlikely that your Crumps are related to mine at that time although they may come from an earlier stock.
