View Full Version : How do I put names on scanned photos?

I have scanned in several large photos of wedding groups and would like to put the names of the people on the people in the scan rather than on a separate sheet.

I have tried using Photoshop to do this but find I can only label one person at a time using 'layers'. Is there any easy way of getting all of the names on one layer or is there a different system of doing this that you would advise?

Thanks

I think Fototagger is just what you are looking for, I have used it myself and found it very simple to use, and best of all, it is free.

Many thanks for that recommendation. I have down loaded it, and had a quick play last night.:)

Is there an option to vary the type face, of do we stick with the Yankee fixation on Time New Roman? |banghead|

Off the top of my head, I think if you right click in the tag box you can edit it there.

Many thanks once again:). Have just altered the photo I played with last night to 'Arial' font and it looks much better:). This programme is just what I was hoping to find in an obscure corner of 'Photoshop'

Apologies for the poor spelling in the last post|blush|, put it down to more haste less speed!

I don't understand why this is happening, A. Muse. Are you using Adobe Photoshop or just its Elements? Either way - if you have your photo in the window for editing and you select the text tool, you should be able to draw a little box on each person and enter their names. There should be no 'layering' involved. Just keep the text tool 'active' and you can draw as many boxes as you wish, wherever you like on the photo. This works for me every time.

Another way round it, of course, is to load your photo into the free 'Paint' that comes with all Windows operating systems, and again select the text tool to draw a box. And both Photoshop and Paint allow you to change the font of the text in the box, as well as its size and colour etc.

MythicalMarian, Many thanks for your advice, I'm still wet behind the ears as far as Photoshop is concerned, hence the post. I was trying to put individual names on individual layers, because I had not got the hang of the 'commit' tick on the bar at the top of the page.|banghead|.

Now working fine:D Thanks again.
