My Great Grandfather JAMES ELLIOTT, I believe arrived in
Melbourne in 1864 as their first child Edward was born in 1864,
they arrived from Devenish N. Ireland. Their second child
William John Elliott was born in 1865, he was my grandfather
and was believed to have imported the first car into Sydney
in 1899/1900, looking for any information on this family .

Do you have William's birth certificate? as it should say when and where his parents married, their ages, birthplaces and if there were other children born before Edward in 1864.

This will help narrow down when they arrived.

I don,t have birth certificate, but I know they married in
Devenish N.Ireland in 1863 so I figure they must have
sailed in 63 or 64 but will try shipping records for arrival
dates . Many Thanks.
