my g/father and his brother.
Herbert William Bounds. (brother)
private. No 4551
16th Queens Lancers
died of disease. 18. 01 1902. Beaufort West. Western Cape. S A
Any info on his reg, movements, actions, etc.

Walter James Bounds. (G/Father)
private. No 8733
grenadier guards. (3rd batt)??
He arrived in Cape Town 2 days after his brother died.

Well, from the QSA medal rolls:

Bounds,H.,4551,Private,16th Lancers,Cape Colony,OFS,1901,1902. Died of disease, Beaufort West, 18/01/02
So entitled to 4 clasps to the medal; Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902.

Bounds,W.,8733,Private,3rd Gren Guards Cape Colony,1902.
So 2 clasps; Cape Colony,South Africa 1902.

Hi, thank you for the quick reply. I have my g/father's QSA he has 4 claps 1901. 1902. cape colony, orange free state. I assume that he must have been in SA in 1901 and not 02 thinking about the info on his arrival date that I was given. Many thanks again
