The 1851 census shows something which may be of interest.
As well as Nicholas and Catherine, there are 6 of their children listed. But also a nephew - Hanibal Warren (not to be confused with the son of the same name) who is listed as being a lodger and his birthplace is Jersey, Channel Islands.

The censuses all seem to agree that Nicholas was born in Perranarworthal. There is, as Bo Peep pointed out, another Nicholas, of a similar age, who came from Madron.
