I am looking for any information on William Byrne who lived in Birkenhead England from about 1895 to his death in 1912. (Not sure of his DOB, but guessing in the 1870s) When he died he left a wife and 5 children, but none were named in the obit. At the time of his death he lived at 22 Beverly Road and was buried in the Birkenhead cemetery
in a private grave. I would appreciate any info someone may find in their resources.

There's nothing for ten years either side in Wirral for William Byrne. Have you gto the names of his wife and the children. Will try and find them on the 1901 census to get some further details.

do you have the death certificate?

His father(James Owen Byrne) and mother (Mary Theresa Taffe) were married in Sheffield on July 15, 1868. James was in the Army (2/24 foot) until August 1877 and then took his family home to Wicklow County. The Roll of the Married Establishment shows that by March 1877, he had 4 children aged 6years and 4 months; 4 years and 5 months; 1 year and 3 months and one month. The names are not given, but I know one is William. I'm just guessing that Mary stayed in Sheffield until they went to Ireland, and that is where William was born. (But that's just a guess)

The info I have came from his obituary so I guess it's possible that there's an error in it. Does anyone know if the 22 Beverly Road is a Birkenhead address ?

Cheshirebmd has no William Byrne death for that year in Wirral.
CheshireBMD deaths only go up to 1901 for Wirral. Later ones haven't been indexed yet.

Well ancestry has gone off for the time being so there's not a lot I can have a look for. Cannot find a marriage just yet for James Byrne and Mary Theresa Taffe.

Does the obituary say the name of William's wife?

I have found only 2 deaths for that area(ish) in 1922:

Mar Q 1922 Byrne William 35 Liverpool 8b 10
Sep Q 1922 Byrne William F 70 Birkenhead 8a 530

There was a third but he was aged only one, so I discounted it.

Beverley Road is in New Ferry, just to the south end of Birkenhead. It comes under the Birkenhead registration district. The death that Jan found is likely to be the one.

Sorry.. It should have been 1912 (not 1922) for his Date of Death.

And I edited my original , changing the 1912 to 1922. A brain freeze on my part. I'm sorry for the effort put into searching the 1922 date. I think you've got it though. I'm trying to come up with his children names. I beleive that one of them hosted my father when he was recovering from being wounded at DDay.

Right. If you think this is he, order the death certificate. This may be done online from the GRO at:

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ follow the links on the right-hand side.

It will have the name of who registered the death and, with any luck, will be a member of the family.

I do have a copy of the marriage certificate. It's James O. (Owen) Byrne. (I won't tell you how long that one had me going until I got the copy)

The death notice says he died 13 October 1912 at age 42 and was burried in Birkenhead on the 16th. His name is shown as William H. (Willie) Byrne. Does the Dec Q just mean it was in the 4th quarter of the year ?
