Hello

I'm researching my Hastings family, who resided in East Riding, mainly as mariners, canalmen, watermen, sailors and the like.

I was wondering if anyone out there shared a connection with the TURGOOSE and HASTINGS families...

I'm not sure if Ann Hastings (b 1815 in Hatfield), daughter of William Hastings and Olive SHILLITO, married a William Turgoose or not in 1836, Thorne, Yorkshire. Does anyone out there know the answer to this and can tell me for certain?

Many thanks
Rachel

I am new to this website and I am looking for any information regarding John Hunt who worked on the canals in Leeds, his son William Hunt and grandson Henry Hunt who were listed as watermen. I have got as far as John but cant seem to find any more information on him. They were listed as living at Water Hall, Leeds.

I have had a look in the 1841 census and the only William Turgoose in Hatfield was born in 1828. There is a Mary born 1816 Nottinghamshire married to a William but they are living in Sutton on Trent. Do you have any information on children they may have had? I found Olive and William in the 1841 census and there is a Mary Hastings widow aged 35 living next door to them
