Hi all.
This looks a great site and I am glad I have found you all. I am of course addicted to Ancestor Research - say no more lol.
I have done research on my maternal side, the Sparhams. I am convinced there is a link between the Norfolk/Suffolk/Essex/London Sparhams and those from Derby.
Family lore has it that the Norfolk/Suffolk Sparhams went to Derby around the time there was "Swine Fever" in Norfolk (not sure of the year).
Also the grandson of William Sparham b. 1822 in Heage (married to Rebecca Hawkins) was born in Poplar and ended up in Southend on Sea. The grandson is Joseph Hawkins Sparham b. 1872. They had a baby girl Josephine Lego Sparham b. 4 8. 1909 in Southend on Sea. They did not live far from my G Grandfather Arthur Sparham b.1861 in Hackney. Joseph's mother was Elizabeth Lego born in Poplar, his father Joseph b.1843 in heage.
It could just be coincidence that Joseph Jnr ended up in Southend, but if anyone has any light to shed, would be great. In fact would be great to hear from anyone with Sparham ancestors.
Look forward to chatting to anyone out there and hopefully finding more info on my ancestors at the same time.
Cheers
