hello all,
trying to locate a John and Anne Mains or Maine, he was a husbandman, in the surrounding areas of Plymouth. They lived in Essex street Plymouth in 1810 we know. I have all other relevant info on John Main from 1841 onwards, who is the son of said couple.

with thanks, Paul

wow, how quick!! ok, witness at their marriage is a Thomas, found him on LDS born 1892, Plymstock ,so am thinkin could be John's bro, so from that im thinking earliest born 1776.

impressed with swiftness, thanks. Paul

Sorry Paul, can you clarify,

I know it is quite late and I know I have had my 1 of 5 glass of port plus a few more....
but~
Are you saying Thomas was born abt 1892 and he may be John's brother who could be born about 1776.

1892 minus 1776 = 116 years between brothers?
I don't think so - unless the port has truly addled my brain:D

haha,
my whiskey brews must be somewhat stronger my friend....apologies, I will be here for some time! 1792, presuming it IS his bro n not his father!

with thanks, Paul

OK Paul,
I think this needs a bit more thought but 16 years sounds a better bet;).
My bed beckons, I will return after searching somemore tomorrow.
Best regards

so i'd better clarify...as much for myself,
presuming they where atleast 16 when they married, they could be anything between 49 -78 in 1841. Surname could be Main/Mains/Maine as there where 2 mistranscripts we know of.
maths is tricky after midnight tho ;-)

thanks again, Paul...Main!

Sorry Paul, No Luck.

The only one that keeps popping up as a possible brother is a
William Main (transcibed Mainsd) born about 1766.
He was a mason and lived in Plymstock, Plympton.

thanks for your time anyway Mutley,
seems strange that they both seemed to of just disappeared...and rather frustrating too!
