Bertrum childs born 1901 islington london died in nov 1977, in nw london brent farther.
Ethel d Childs nee woods 1901. died ? ,nw london brent, mother.
they were married in willesden in 1922. burried in willesden cemertory london.
bertrum childs mother was called hephzibah childs but I cannot find any reference to her in the willesden area of london I know she died in this area as she is burried in willesden cemertory as is the rest of the family I think hephzibah was living in islington when she gave birth to bertrum childs.

I think hephzibah was living in islington when she gave birth to bertrum childs.
Bertram's birth certificate should provide some clues. It should provide the address of where he was born - at least a general clue - as well as details about Hephzibah.
If you don't have it already, it can be ordered online from the GRO here:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
You will need the reference, which is below:
Births Jun 1901
CHILDS Bertram Charles Islington 1b 210
Good luck,

Hephzibah Childs, Wife, married, 29, b Flaunden, Bucks

Harry Childs, Head, married, 27, Furniture Porter, b Chalvey, Bucks
Hephzibah Childs, Wife, married, 29, b Flaunden, Bucks
Florence Childs, dau, 3, b Islington

Sorry Mike - he just missed it if he was born 30 April 1901 as the census was taken 31 March 1901
However, how many Hephzibah Childs would have been in Islington at this time? She was the only one that I found, although Hephzibah was a relatively popular name of the time.
Get a copy of Bertram's birth certificate and it should answer the question.

thanks for all your help
I now have a massive head ache lol
on trying to find re 1901 census
Harry Childs, Head, married, 27, Furniture Porter, b Chalvey, Bucks
Hephzibah Childs, Wife, married, 29, b Flaunden, Bucks
when they got married ?
I know in 1901 there age was 27/29 so i estimate they got married between 1890 and 1900 as in 1890 they were 17/19 and would have had their first child around 1900 so it seems a good idea to be married before having children i hope.
but i cannot find any harry childs married to a hephzibah dont know maden name? between 1890 and 1900. aaahhhhhhhh
thanks mike

|hug| Let me mop your fevered brow...
Could this be them?
Marriages Dec 1896
CHILDS Harry Hendon 3a 342
Geary Hephzibah Hendon 3a 342
Holman Mary Ann Hendon 3a 342
WHITEMAN George Henry Hendon 3a 342
If you order the certificate to find out, I would advise just putting Harry's name down - just in case he ended up married to Mary Ann Holman (but I doubt it)

1891:
74 West End Lane, Hampstead, London
Lewis Spain, Head, Mar, 69, Living on own means, b Marylebone, London
Mary A Spain, Wife, Mar, 59, b N/K
Arthur Spain, son, 23, b Marylebone, London
Flora Spain, dau, 24, b Marylebone, London
Agnes M Spain, dau, 23, b Marylebone, London
Matilde Poskey, servant, 41, Domestic, b Bethnal Green, London
Hephzibah Geary, servant, 20, Domestic, b Flaunden, Bucks
Mary A Street, servant, 19, Domestic, b Higham, Somerset
Well, I reckon this is she as Mary A Street (as found in 1901 as a visitor) is working in the same household
1881:
3 Moon Lane, Sarratt, Hertfordshire
Charles Geary, Head, Mar, 51 (the age has been obliterated), Ag Lab, b Flaunden, Hertfordshire
Mary Geary, wife, 41, Laundress, b Flaunden, Hertfordshire
Elizabeth Geary, dau, 23, Straw Plaiter, b Flaunden, Hertfordshire
George C Geary, son, 12, Ag Lab, b Flaunden, Hertfordshire
Hephzibah Geary , dau, 9, scholar, b Flaunden, Hertfordshire
When I saw Flaunden first written as being in Bucks, I wondered. The only Flaunden that I know of is in Hertfordshire - not that far away from me.
Anyway, I hope this all helps,

Mike,
If the Gearys stayed in Hertfordshire, you could always post a query on the Hertfordshire board if you get stuck.
Glad to see you are moving onwards (and backwards)!
