I have found that my ancestors lived in and moved between these 3 counties from the 1700's until the early 1900's.
OKEHAMPTON, THRUSHELTON, REDRUTH, RUSHFORD, LAMERTON, GERMANSWEEK, TAVISTOCK, MILLOM, BOOTLE , are some of the "places of interest", where my ancestors lived.
There are many gaps in my knowledge and I would be delighted to hear from anyone who may also be researching the following families.
My surnames of interest are:
ASH
BOTTERELL
BRAY
DAWE
DOIDGE
EASTERBROOK/ EASTABROOK
GEORGE
HOLMES
HUGGINS
LAKE
MIDDLEWEEK /MIDDLEWICK
MITCHELL
RENDAL
TEAGUE
TIPPETT/TIPPET
WHERRY
WORTH
Many thanks for reading this. I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards.

Hi Patricia, where are your Tippets from?
My gg-grandmother's first husband was an Elisha Tippett born in Newlyn East. His mother Mary Tippett was born in St Enoder.

Dear Sue,
My Gt Grandmother's first husband was William Sleeman TIPPET. We think he was born in SILVERDALE , LANCASTER in 1864. He died in MILLOM on 7th April, 1897. He and my Gt Grandmother, Elizabeth (Lily) TEAGUE, married on 31-7-1884 and had 5 chldren but sadly, only one of these children survived to adulthood. He was Richard Henry TIPPETT,(always known as Henry) born 15-5-1893 and he migrated to BC. CANADA in 1912, where he died in 1967.
We know very little about William TIPPETT, except that his father's name was Richard.
When we were looking for the TIPPETT family back in 1999, we made contact with an Ellen HOLLOW through the CORNISH list on ROOTSWEB, who was looking for the TIPPETT clan from St COLOMB MAJOR, NEWLYN EAST. There are several Marys but I didn't see an Elisha.
Ellen was also Australian, and I do have her old email address, but by now that would probably be obsolete. I could scan the 2 pages she sent to us and email them to you if you would like to see them.
Regards,
Tricia

That would be appreciated Tricia, although not a direct ancestor Elisha and Jennifer did have a daughter who is a half-sister to my great-grandmother.

Hi Patricia, I'm not aware of any our Dents going to Australia, certainly not the immediate family.

Hi -
I have Joanna Doidge, born in Tavistock around 1768, married John Lupton in 1798, married again in 1803 to Thomas Chafe, also of Tavistock. Brook Street Independent Church. T. Patrick Kivlin, a researcher in Devon, has done a lot of work on Doidges.

Dear Charles,
When I have been doing some research on the DOIDGE family I have often come across references to a Joanna DOIDGE. We have a daughter, Joanna, so I was interested to see that we had inadvertently chosen a family name for her.
Our earliest known DOIDGE ancestor is Andrew DOIDGE who was married to Elizabeth, (unknown surname).
They had one son that we know of, John DOIDGE (c 17th Sept 1708 in Thrushelton, Devon).
John DOIDGE married Margaret BAKER (c 23 Mar 1715, Coryton, Devon)
We believe their Children were:
John DOIDGE ( c 16 Jan 1731 ,Thrushelton, Devon)
Edward DOIDGE (c 18 Nov 1733, Thrushelton, Devon)
Susanna DOIDGE (c 21 Nov 1736, Thrushelton, Devon)
Nicholas DOIDGE (c 11 Feb 1738, Thrushelton, Devon)
On 9 Apr 1757 Susannah DOIDGE married John WORTH (c 22 Nov 1730 Thrushelton, Devon)
Nicholas DOIDGE was one of the witnesses.
Their children were:
Frances WORTH (c 20 Mar 1756)
Mary WORTH (c 28 Jan 1758 Coryton ,Devon)
Margaret WORTH (c 23 May 1759 Coryton, Devon)
Wilmott WORTH (c 26 Jun 1760 Coryton Devon)
Bartholemew WORTH (c 24 July 1762 Coryton, Devon)
John WORTH ( c 20 Mar 1763 Coryton, Devon)
I don't have any other details of DOIDGE marriages, but over the years I have seen a lot of DOIDGE families mentioned on Rootsweb's Devon list and it might be well worth your while to check their archives, if you don't already subscribe to that list.
Good luck, Patricia

Dear Patricia,
I don't know if you know it already but check the web-site easterbrook.org.uk, which is a one-name study of all Easterbrooks.
My Easterbrooks come from Dawlish and Exeter area so let me know if you think there is a connection.
Best wishes,

Hi Patricia,
I'm curious if any of your TEAGUES have connections to St. Teath in Cornwall. One of my gg-grandmothers was a Mary Ann Teague (christened Marian), born January 1819, the illegitimate daughter of Jane Teague and - according to the QS records - Samuel Stephens.
I have more information on Jane's family that I received from another researcher, although I haven't verified all of it myself yet. Let me know if you think there may be a link with your line.
Regards,
Tim

Dear Tim,
Our TEAGUE family was from Redruth. At the moment I can't see a connection between our two families, but if I find anything that I think might be of interest to you, I'll certainly be in touch again.

Patricia

Dear Emma,
I have had a quick look at the EASTERBROOK website but so far have not found our branch of the EASTERBROOK family. My Ann EASTERBROOK ( 12-6-1795, Samford Courtney) was the daughter of Thomas EASTERBROOK and Elizabeth WARREN. She married John MIDDLEWEEK of Okehampton on 9-9-1821. I'll have a closer look at the one name study site when I have time. I'll certainly let you know if I find a link between our two families.
Best wishes,
Patricia

Thanks very much Patricia.
The earliest Teague ancestor I have listed (not verified) is a William Teague, born abt. 1699 in St. Endellion. If you find a link to that parish (or to St. Teath), please let me know.
Best regards,
Tim

Dear Tim,
We haven't managed to get back as far as you have, with our branch of the Teagues. The earliest Teague ancestor we have on our tree is Thomas Teague, born 1742, who married a Mary Gray born 1746. I think that they were both from Redruth.
My sister has all of the hard copies of the research she did in the 1990's and has been far too busy of late to check her data for me. As I don't know which of our Teague ancestors have been verified, I'm trying to find time to recheck each entry.....a very time consuming job, but we need to get it right.
One of our brick walls has been re Thomas Teague, born 21-2-1815 who married Elizabeth George on 23-2-1837. We can't find where and when he died. There is a family story that he went to Nicaragua to join an uncle who was growing Indigo, but we have found no proof of this.
I'll certainly let you know if I find any links to Teagues in St.Teath or St. Endellion.
Best wishes,
Patricia

Dear Nadine,
Thank you for your reply.
We definitely share the same surnames, but as yet I haven't been able to find a link between our known family and any of the folk that you have mentioned. If I do find a connection, I'll certainly be in touch again. Good luck with your research,
Regards,
Patricia

Dear Vic,
Thank you for your response to my posting. I was very interested to see that so many of our family's names were used by the DOIDGE family you have listed. The Andrew you mention, born 1671 , married 1708, may well be our Andrew. You have given me a real challenge and I'll follow this up asap, but that may not be for a week or two. It would be very exciting to find that they are ours, as this would take us back at least another generation. Thank you again for this lead. I'll be in touch again as soon as I have something more to report.
Best wishes,
Patricia
