hi i am doing research on these surnames as they are my connections. my grandad was a cubbins and my nan a macmurray. my mum, a cubbins married an evans and had children but he died so she moved to oldham where she met my dad who is a radcliffe. i can only get far back to the 1901 census and that is where i am stuck. ( i have gone further back but i am unsure of it). is there any one out there that can help me go furthur back so that i can make my tree grow bigger. my grandparents died before i was born and my mum died when i was 4 and my dad died when i was 13 but i only met him a couple of time from what i can remember of him. i was brought up in a children home so you can imagine that i do not have much details about my family. the hard part is finding out where my nan was born. (macmurry)

Can you give the details of the 1901 census?
( i have gone further back but i am unsure of it).
Have you got any copies of birth, death & marriage certificates to support your findings?

hi, i have only my mum's birth and death certificate and i am hoping to pick up my mum's marriage certificate soon. that is all i have. but her marriage certificate will be to an evans who is not my dad. my mum and dad never married cos he was a catholic and i think they could not get a devorce in them days. the marriage is for my sister as its her dad.

You will have to find more details for your father if you are going to research his family.
Have you found his death or his marriage cert?

thank you so much for that. do i have to go to the town where he was born to get the certificate. i know that i had to go to pick up my mum's birth from birkenhead because that is where she was born. i notice tho that there is a son called enoch but i was told there was a daughter called edith and all the other names are right. what might have happened there. how do i go about to see if it is enoch or edith or do you think it's a possible that they had another daughter after fred.

Nope - you can order the certificate online from the GRO. All you need is the name, quarter and reference number. The certificates cost £7 from the GRO. Have a look around the forum and you will find explanations of how to order them. If you get stuck, or are not sure, ask and we can help you get it ordered :)
