Hi

Another puzzle, my GGGG Grandmother Mary MITCHELL B/ MITCHEL: Abt 1809 married Richard DOWNING - 16 Feb 1831. Mary died 23 Sept 1872 in Wendron Street, Helston. One of their sons Richard Mitchell DOWNING was my GGG Grandfather. Now, I have observed a listing on the OPC Database that lists a Richard MITCHELL marrying Mary ROWE - 02-Apr 1793 in Ruan Major. I am only guessing that the link with the names makes them Mary's parents but have no conclusive proof. I hate assuming, as we all know what happens with assumptions.

Can anyone help with a confirmation and/or further information.

Thanks again

Brad

Thank you!!!! A great start, and very quick, can I ask for a source, Baptism or Birth? Also, were there any other children?

Many thanks

The parish records at the CRO. I transcribe them. Check out the Cornish Forefathers page at the Parish Chest (http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php?cmd=listlinkeditems&cat=D1&supplier=&breadcrumb=Parish+Registers%3ACornwall:Cornish+For efathers+%99).

I will look for siblings tomorrow as I am about to 'hit the sack' now.

That would be a baptism record from the Ruan Major parish records I expect. Pam transcribes them from the records lodged at the Cornwall Records Office.
If your family are from that area, it may be worth getting a copy of the records from Cornish Forefathers as mentioned by Pam - there are probably other family members listed.

Hi Mark

Thank you, I am browsing through that website now, certainly a lot to choose from and not too expensive.

Pam

Thanks again, I have found seven children on the OPC so far.

Cheers

As a great many of the OPCs copy the information from my transcriptions, I am not surprised!
