About Me

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello All,
I have been researching the Kellett family from Wyke (West Yorkshire); the Brownings from Ducklington; The Harts and Mellings from Lytham; and the Hydes from Hertfordshire, Wiltshire and Cheshire.
Special problem with my grandfather Isaac Alfred Hart who maried my grandmother in RC church in Lytham 1875. Who was he and where did he come from?

Hello Peter, and a warm welcome.

Do you have the marriage certificate, please, and what if anything does it say about Isaac's father ? Are any of the witnesses HARTs ?

Hello Peter and welcome to Brit-Gen |wave|

I'm please to see that more Hertfordshire inhabitants are catching on to this forum.

Have a good look round and post any queries on the relevant boards. I'm sure that people will be able to help.

Welcome to the B-G forums, to add to Alan's reply, how old was Isaac HART when he wed, was he single or widowed?

Could he be the Alfred HART shown as aged 28 in the 1881 census (RG11/4251 f72 p12) in Lytham? If so he is recorded as a photographer, bn London, married to Mary (aged 29) and with children Alfred 4 and Herbert 2 - or do we need to keep looking for your chap?

I have the marriage certificate. The father is named as Abram Alfred Hart and Rank or profesion - "gentleman". The witnesses were the bride's family i.e Melling. I have no confirmed earlier information. On later censi he gave diferent dates of birth. Who was he and where did he come from?

Thanks for responding

Yes that is He. See also 1891 and 1901 censi. Also death in Hull 1910. No one knows why he was in Hull in 1910. I believe he died in hospital.

Peter, I have a Kellett connection in Yks., around the Leeds area. David Kellett married Margaret Turnbull 5 june 1843 age shown as minor. He was a potter and his father David was a potter, they were living in Holbeck at the time of marriage. I have not been able to find anything else on the Kelletts.

Another Kellett researcher here! There were actually rather a lot of them in and around Wyke. My main Kellett family is Daniel and Sarah (WILKINSON), who married in Birstall in 1825; I know of 10 children, and I'm descended from their daughter Eden. If you click my name you'll find a link to my website, which has more information on them.

Brian - I can't see your David in my tree, but feel free to look at the website too.

Some difference ages from one census to another is not unusual - What are his ages in 1891 and 1901? Does he always give the same place of birth?

Does he appear in any trade directories as a photographer?

There are a couple of possible matches in earlier census returns - can you locate him in the GRO index of births?
