Did you get any anwers regarding the tragic death of your Uncle can one find out on line anything that has been written in the news papers about ones ancestors? I am in a simular possition with a tragic story.
My grandmothers sister Ira was married to Parsons De Beauvais (French name) they lived in Springdale Road Broadstone Dorset. Her daughter was also called Ira known as little Eira she was tragicilly killed outside her house in Broadstone when she was on her bicicle, by a steam roller of all things. It just could not stop.
She was about 11 years old and so brave and kept apologising for causing trouble. Her daeth was in the newspapers. Queen Mary was so touched by it that she got her Lady in Waiting to write a letter of condolence to Eira and family. So if you can help me I would much apprcaite it. I am new with this site and hope I will be able to manage it. Kind regards
Where it has by the names above I tried to make it BOLD but it jsut put two capital B's in brackets dont know why as I read all names should be made BOLD.

What is available online varies tremendously.
I suggest putting the name of a place/town/county/island group and the word newspapers, into a search engine to locate present newspapers.
So for the first posting here, enter 'Shetland Newspapers' - you'll get a few hits.
For the second query try searching for 'Dorset Newspapers'
You'll then need to go to each web-site and see what they have available. If they do not have an records online, try writing/telephoning/sending an e-mail to see if the newspaper can assist.
Good luck to you both

Hi Joanna,
The usual convention is to put surnames in capitals, (e.g. John SMITH).
This makes it easier to pick them out of the text, and makes it obvious with more complicated names. (e.g. Philip Redvers JONES - two forenames, William HUGHES MORTON - double surname).
You can reserve bold and other highlights for bits you want to stand out.
My personal gripe is posts that are entirely in lower case, with no punctuation, and all in a single block of text with no paragraphs.
Although I try to help, if it's complex I often give up because it's just too much effort yo unravel.
What you are doing looks fine!
As to newspapers, there is no way of guessing if an area is covered for a date or not. As Geoffers says the modern day equivalent of an old paper may be able to help. Many are county records offices, often microfilmed. If you are lucky the staff know which paper is most likely to produce a result for a particular area.
