Have been researching DENHAM, NEWELL, RILEY, GOODALL, SMITH, PULLAN, LAYCOCK, SHUTTLEWORTH names in the Halifax & Keighley areas of Yorkshire for some 4 years. Recently retired so more time to devote to putting some flesh on the bones.
:) Have made contact with 2 second cousins - yet to meet them - 1 of whom is really into FH so we share information, family stories & generally encourage each other which is great.
 Brick wall:
My great great grandfather DAVID SHUTTLEWORTH b 1823/24 Cowling bap Kildwick d 26 May 1898 was the son of JOHN SHUTTLEWORTH (named on David's marriage certificate). I know from Baptist Church records that David's grandfather was JAMES SHUTTLEWORTH b 1755 d 19 Jun 1831, a Baptist minister at Cowling Hill Baptist Church. James m HANNAH WRIGHT 5 Nov 1776 at Kildwick - they are buried together at Cowling Hill - but I have found no records of any children for them.
1941 Census has David apprenticed to John Craven in Oakworth. James' widow Hannah d 31 Jan 1842 but I have not been able to find her in the 1841 Census. Possible record for David's parents & siblings are:
Middleton, Cowling
Shuttleworth John 60 weaver
Shuttleworth Mary 55
Shuttleworth Sarah 20
Shuttleworth Jonas 15
Shuttleworth Levi 15 (all born in county)
but can't confirm this. Any suggestions?
As for those Smiths . . . . just how many John, Mary, Joseph Smiths are there in the Keighley area?!!!!!!
I have lots of information about various DENHAM lines in the Halifax area - happy to share with others
