Hi,
I am a fifty eight years old ,and live in a place called Cwmbran South Wales UK.
I have been researching my family tree for about two years, and have discovered connections all over the world, which I found quite amazing. I do have some research that I am finding difficult to research, concerning Naturalisation ,and research into my Grandfathers religion, as he came from a family a Ministers from the Neath area of West Wales.
Would like also to find members of my Edwards side of family who immigrated to America in the 1790s and 1800s.
Bye for now ,looking forward to researching with you all
Best wishes Jackie

|wave|Hello Jackie and welcome to the Brit-Gen forum. I am delighted you have joined our community and wish you every success with your research.

I go to Cwmbran every year to attend the Gwent FHS Open Days and will be there again on 28th. June. It is one of my 'must not miss' events.

I sincerely hope you don't arrive on the 28th June because the Gwent FHS Open Day is on 14th June so you would be all on your own!

Jackie if you are having any problems with your research I can recommend joining Gwent Family History Society. They have branches in Pontypool and Newport and these meet every month. The members are very helpful and will be only too pleased to point you in the right direction if you need any guidance.

I always suggest that people join the FH Society closest to where they live so that they can go to meetings and take advantage of the classes and seminars that are organised in their area. I also recomment that they should join the society closest to where their ancestors came from but that can be expensive. Given the choice I would go for the one nearest to where you live - I did and they are really good

Take a look at their website

I do have some research that I am finding difficult to research, concerning Naturalisation

Naturalisation and denization records for England and Wales are held at The National Archives and indexed on their catalogue (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp) they're in HO1, HO44 and HO145

HI everyone,
Thank you all for your response, and the advice you have given me already.
I am a bit of a slow learner, It will take me a while to look around your site, and work everything out.
Yesterday I stumbled across this site, looking for information on Chapels, and found the parish chest, I have ordered a couple of books, which I think might be of help to me .

Hi Jackie. Welcome

When I read "Edwards" - "America" and the years, I just had to go off and find a link for you, just in case you were not aware of the Edwards / New York
saga. Perhaps not important to you at the moment but could be just a useful snippet at some point down the line.

There has been much written about the Edwards family and their land claim.

P.S If you are related and you do get a share, I will settle for 1%. |wave|
