His wife Maud Alice Hill b: 1878 Tavistock
and their parents / marriage or death dates

William Regan of Tavistock b: 1818 and his wife and children

AND Harris Family of Barnstaple, North Devon

Thank you Pam - I was just trying to work out how to change the title of my thread as it should read williams and not williams.

Have recently started researching my family who mainly come from Devonport and it has not been easy so far - but I am keeping hopeful.

Charles and Maud appear to have married in the June quarter of 1895 -

If you order the marriage certificate, it will list the fathers names for both bride and groom (hopefully!) as well as the fathers occupations.
There are a number of Charles Williams listed on the 1881 census, born in Devonport and the surrounding areas, so that would help to narrow down which one is the correct family for you in 1881.

IN 1881, Maud Alice Hill was living with her grandfather, William Regan in Plymouth.
RG11/2195 folio 49 page 93.

Also listed are
Mary J Hill, daughter of William Regan, listed as married
Wiliam H Hill, grandson of William Regan
and
Maud Alice Hill, listed as granddaughter of William Regan
