Hope this isn't another really obvious question, but a few of my bmd certificates have U.D or R.D in the column for "when and Where" born died etc.... just under the address.
for eg:-

twenty fifth October 1907
1, Smith road U.D

I wondered what this means, I am presuming the D is short for District???

thanks

UD Stands for Urban District, RD for Rural District & USD for Urban Sanitary District.
Similar to modern Council boundaries.
