Death Reference Look Up Please

I tried to find this death reference on Free BMD and on GRO at the Records office last week, but to no avail. I wonder if someone could help to find the reference so that I could then order the certificate.

The name is Richard J Pettit - born around 1891. He died after 1919 and almost certainly in West Ham.

Any clues as to how long after 1919, Gillian? Do you suspect his death occurred before a certain year. Or are we just to work from 1919 onwards - you could be for a bit of a wait. :D

If I were to guess I would say he died between 1919 (the date his second child was born) and not after 1940, but that really is a guess.
