I am in Hamilton-Toronto researching my Berkshire (and Rotherhithe) ancestors.
I would be grateful for general and specific correspondance on these surnames in west. BRK.

This memo is about the BRK lines.

William KNAP(P) marries Martha BARRRET(T) in 1745 in Speen. By 1780s they are in Hampstead Marshall. (She dies in 1812: NBI source.) I am using FHL Bishops Transcripts BTs) to trace back; but the film quality is poor. Any assistance gratefully received.

Benjamin SIMONS marries DIana BASING in Speen in 1753 (BT). I believe both come from Peasemore, further north in BRK. The IGI shows Diana born 1733 of Charles and Sarah BASING. BASING is very rare outside of HANTS.

Their daughter, Mary SIMON(D)S is born in 1755 in Speen. Mary marries a John NAPP in Hampstead Marshall in 1783, and they have many children identified in the IGI: whom I have confirmed in the BTs.

This winter I am actively working on these lines by reviewing FHL parish records. BUt I am relatively new - 2 years in BTs - and am very accepting of advice and guidance.

Barry Spinner.
